New K Code for Orthosis Interface

February 26, 2008:
Beginning April 1, 2008, a new HCPCS Level II K code becomes effective for replacement interface material. This code should be used when submitting claims for the replacement of lower extremity removable soft interfaces only.

The K codes were established for use by the DME Medicare administrative contractors (DME MAC). They are developed when the currently existing permanent national code for supplies and certain product categories do not include the codes needed to implement a DME MAC medical review policy.
